Webinar “The Internet economy in Latin America and the Caribbean. A look from the use of Big data”

The pandemic accelerated the digitization of companies and online activities such as e-commerce, among others. However, traditional statistics have failed to provide complete and timely information on these changes in business activity. Therefore, it is necessary to explore new measurement methods that allow a better understanding of these phenomena.

To analyze the changes that have occurred in online business activity in recent years, an exploratory study will be presented during the event that combines data sources extracted from the web with official statistical sources in four countries in the region: Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico. This combination of data allowed a novel classification of companies based on the intensity of use they make of the Internet.

The event will also feature a panel discussion with experts and professionals in the field who will review the challenges and opportunities presented by the Internet economy in Latin America and the Caribbean.
