Among its new features, the one that stands out the most is the reduction of energy consumption to values ​​up to 20% lower to current versions of WearOs 4, which will allow us to improve one of the most critical points in practically all smartwatches equipped with this operating system: Its autonomy.

These improvements are especially focused on outdoor use environments and carrying out activities such as a marathon, so depending on the use we give to the watch, the improvement could be more or less noticeable in our daily lives.

On the other hand, Google has also detailed some changes in the development of the “WatchFaces” with designs for the watch. They will update the Watch Face Format with Wear OS 5 and add restrictions to certain utilities built into the designs. In addition, there will be new templates and a new version of Jetpack Compose for developing applications in clock format.

As we said, WearOS 5 will be based on Android 14 and not on the new version of Google’s mobile operating system: Android 15.
