The Government will make every effort to improve the regasification and that the European partners most exposed to a hypothetical russian gas outage “can have the solidarity of those countries better prepared” for this scenario, such as Spain and Portugal. This was stated this Friday by the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Kings Marotoin an interview in Antenna 3after being asked about the words of the German chancellor, Olaf Scholzin favor of a gas pipeline that transports gas from Portugal and through Spain and France to the rest of Europe.
Maroto has insisted that “The Executive has been trying to coordinate European energy policies for a long time”, to the point of being “pioneers in asking for the reform of the system”, but has clarified that “the solutions have to come from the Union, from integration policies”. At this point, he has referred to the position of Portugal, whose prime minister, Antonio CostaI assure this Thursday on social networks that Germany he could count “100%” on his country to build the gas pipeline, “today for natural gas, tomorrow for green hydrogen”.
“We will put all our efforts so that regasification can be improved and, of course, that the countries most affected by a future Russian gas cut can have the solidarity of those of us who are Better preparedsuch as Spain and Portugal”, added Maroto.
The minister stressed that it is necessary to “improve interconnections”and explained that they are already preparing the Port of El Musel in Gijón “to give more gas, especially to France”.
“Spain is very well prepared. We hope that if the German chancellor’s proposal succeeds we can have better gasification and more interconnections in Europe so as not to depend on Russian gas and be able to have autonomy energy”, concluded Maroto.
