A month ago Airship Syndicate suspended sales of Wayfinder, a character-focused online RPG, while it worked on major changes. Today the team has announced the path that the title will follow and done justice to his words when he spoke of important changes. To begin with, the PC version remains available in Steam early access, the PS4 version will no longer receive support, the PS5 version will arrive in summer and the Xbox Series version in autumn.

Wayfinder’s first big change is the transformation into a single-player title with optional three-player co-op. “No queues, no logins and no accounts,” says Airship Syndicate. “You can choose to play alone on your Steam Deck on the go or co-op with your friends from your PC at home. We realize this is a big change, but it’s necessary to ensure the game exists forever. This “It also means that all progress will be lost due to local matches no longer being on the server. This change will be the basis of an update we’ve called Echoes.”

The Echoes update will be available in Steam early access on May 31 and the full launch will occur on June 11, at which point the game will ship for 24.99 euros. In summer Echoes will debut on PS5 in early access. In the fall, Wayfinder will leave early access on all platforms, the price will increase, and the Xbox Series version will also go on sale. The PS4 version will no longer be supported and these players will have access to a PS5 version.

As a title that offers access to all content for a price, Wayfinder will eliminate microtransactions and in-game purchases. Founders who have already paid for Wayfinder will have full access to the title and all items included in each pack. Runesilver will become an in-game currency to purchase cosmetics. At the gameplay level, all the main systems have been tweaked and the Echoes update will be accompanied by a new character called Grendel and a new area.
