In this webinar (access the webinar recording), Guillermo Anlló, UNESCO regional science, technology and innovation specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean, presented the UNESCO Recommendation on Open Science (RCA). This strategy establishes a framework of interconnected values and principles, highlighting four key pillars of Open Science:
- Open scientific knowledge
- Open participation of social agents
- Open dialogue with other knowledge systems
- Infrastructure for open science
Anlló addressed the main challenges and high-impact areas for the implementation of UNESCO’s CAR, recommending seven areas of action that Member States should prioritize when implementing the strategy.
The presentation also reviewed the main achievements of 2022-2023 related to the development of standards and guidance for the implementation of UNESCO’s CAR, as well as their effects on policy development and strengthening collaborative alliances and networks.
Additionally, Anlló presented the UNESCO Open Science Toolkit (Open Science Toolkit), designed to support the implementation of the UNESCO CAR. This dynamic resource includes a collection of guides, policy documents, fact sheets and indexes that are regularly updated to reflect new developments and the status of recommendation implementation.
