Publisher Plaion (formerly Koch Media) has teamed up with Japanese developer Toylogic (Happy Dungeons, Happy Wars) to present Warlander, a game free-to-play where players will participate in sieges in a fantasy world. The title will be released on PC via Steam with an open beta that will open its doors on September 12. Despite the proximity of the release, as of today we do not have a trailer where we can see Warlander in motion. We do know that later the title will come to consoles.

warlander is a game free-to-play online and third-person multiplayer set in a medieval fantasy world, allowing up to 100 players to band together and fight as part of two to five armies in skirmishes and castle sieges. In each game the goal is to break into the opponent’s fortress and destroy their core. Initially the title will offer two game modes, one with two teams with up to 40 players and another with five teams with up to 100 players. In addition to fighting, you have to build.

Players will be able to jump onto the battlefield as a warrior, cleric or wizard, three characters offering a different play style and their own set of attacks. Warlander will offer the option to customize the characters by choosing skills and abilities, as well as their visual appearance so that they stand out on the battlefield. There are also dances and gestures. Cosmetic items are the backbone of any game free-to-play. On the other hand, the fantasy element that includes the title allows the introduction of robots.

In Warlander games players can play as different characters and each one will level up individually. As characters level up, they gain more power and their customization options increase.

“From the beginning, our mission was to create a game that players would fall in love with after the first playthrough,” says Yoichi Take, director of Warlander and president of Toylogic. “Whether it’s for the strategic challenge, the thrill of combat, or the excitement of creating that perfect bunch of characters, we wanted to make Warlander a game for everyone. A title that not only offers competitive fun every time you play it, but requires true tactical leadership skills to master.”
