The European Council has approved extend for six months the sanctions imposed in 2014 against Russia and reinforced by the invasion of Ukraine, unleashed on February 24 by the invasion order given by Russian President Vladimir Putin, with which the measures will be in place until January 31, 2023.

“Russian forces continue to strengthen their positions in the regions of Zaporizhia Y Kherson in preparation for Ukrainian counter-offensives,” the US Institute for War Studies said in its daily report.

The American analytical center quoted the head of the Zaporizhia Military Administration, Oleksandr Staruchwho reported that Russian forces are digging trenches at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant, the largest of its kind in Europe, and placing military equipment in nearby residential neighborhoods.
