The unification of several extensions in the core of the Vulkan API in the last version 1.3, Khronos Group has just announced the arrival of Vulkan 1.4.
Vulkan 1.4 supports rendering at 8K resolution, being able to render 8 objectives at a time independently in this limitation, and thus adapting to resolutions that leave 4K behind.
One of the most interesting news for players and developers is that all titles developed with Vulkan 1.4 will have to meet new requirements so that they can render at maximum performance while transmitting large amounts of data, whether it is a game for mobile phones or for console and PC. .
Continuing with the unification of extensions in the kernel that began with Vulkan 1.3, the CK_KHR_maintenance6 maintenance extensions have also been added to this part. Additionally, optional extensions intended for high-performance applications have also been integrated, making them mandatory in Vulkan 1.4 and allowing them to be used on all types of platforms.
For an application to be deployed on Vulkan 1.4games and applications will have to pass the “Vulkan Conformance Test Suite (CTS), which consists of a whopping 3 million open source tests. Currently, both AMD, Intel, NVIDIA, Qualcomm and Apple already have drivers with support for Vulkan 1.4
