VMWare Fusion Pro and Workstation Pro become free

VMware, the popular software development company virtualization solutions which was acquired by Broadcom just over two years ago, has announced that two of its best-known tools: VMware Fusion Pro and VMware Workstation Pro They become free.

As of today, the paid versions of both software suites are no longer available for purchase in the company’s online store. However, users who had already paid for commercial licenses will continue to have direct support for the duration of their contract.

The free versions will have help and support websites at their disposal, although the ticket system or personalized support from VMWare staff will no longer be available.

All the functions that the paid versions had are now integrated into the free version. Let’s remember that VMWare Fusion was already free for non-commercial uses, but now this free feature is extended to all types of uses and functions. The company will continue to develop and add new functionality to VMware Fusion Pro and VMware Workstation Pro.

This measure is striking considering that the company has considerably increased the price of some of its professional solutions, with increases that multiply even by 20 the prices they had previously.
