Viaduct at km 58 of the Vía al Llano will be ready in 2025, how did it turn out?

The kilometer 58 viaduct, located in the road corridor that connects Bogotá with Villavicencio, has reached 98% progress in its execution, as reported by the National Highway Institute (Invías) in a statement issued on December 26, 2024. This work, which has a length of 720 meters, is in the final phase of activities for its next commissioning, scheduled for January of 2025.

During the last few days, the installation of lighting poles along the structure was completed, as well as the completion of signage tasks, essential elements to guarantee the safety and functionality of the work.

“The kilometer 58 viaduct on the Bogotá-Villavicencio route currently reports a 98% progress in execution with the completion this week of the signaling and lighting activities. These activities make it possible to open it for vehicular operation, which will materialize once “There are satisfactory results of receipt of the structure in accordance with the technical standard. The above will be carried out in the third week of January 2025.” indicated the deputy director of Risk Management of the Institute, Víctor Hugo Ríos Bocanegra.

The viaduct structure is made up of six supports, which include two abutments and four main piers. In addition, it has three central lights of 180 meters each, complemented by two additional lights of 90 meters each. This design allows optimizing the functionality and durability of the work, in addition to facilitating mobility on one of the most critical sections of the road corridor.

As planned, once all tests and technical reception procedures have been completed, the viaduct will enter into operation.

Who will operate it?

Currently, the viaduct, which has more than 90% progress in the work, should, according to the most recent deadline, be delivered to Invías in December of this year and subsequently to the National Infrastructure Agency (ANI), who, if decided Thus, I would negotiate with the concessionaire so that they are the ones who operate and maintain the section.
