VI Plenary Meeting of the Regional Technical Forum of Energy Planners – FOREPLEN – Towards a just and sustainable energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Regional Forum of Energy Planners (FOREPLEN), organized by the Water and Energy Unit of the Natural Resources Division of ECLAC in conjunction with the GET.transform Cooperation Program of the German Cooperation ( GIZ). The meeting brought together heads, directors and those in charge of energy planning from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay. On the other hand, thanks to the cordial disposition of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Regional Energy Integration Commission (CIER), the Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE), the Agency International Energy Agency (IEA) and the European Union (EU), offered FOREPLEN technical capacities towards the achievement of the second phase of the Forum. The event had the objective of sharing experiences in energy planning of the member countries of the Forum, in order to discuss a common roadmap that allows the identification of local needs, with a view to the implementation of the Panama Communiqué.

At the end of the meeting, the region’s energy planners expressed a series of topics of interest for the work that FOREPLEN will carry out from 2023 in support of the Panama statement.
