For some time, within the competitive ecosystem of Riot Games there have been different groups or associations of players, which are in charge of supporting the rights and well-being of each competitor in leagues such as the North American LCS or the European LEC.
Derived from its success in solving many of the concerns of pro players in recent years, several reports suggested that this model would be replicated for the scene of VALORANTprior to the start of the new international leagues of VCT 2023.
That is why, after several months of conversation with the Riot esports team, the creation of the VALORANT Players Association in the Americas (AVPA) was recently formalized, which will open a new chapter regarding the future of this emerging scene.

“The mission of this group is to ensure that players receive full protection of all their rights as athletes,” the association said. “[Nuestras] immediate goals include establishing leadership, launching a contract database, and building player protections at all levels [de competencia]”.
According to reports from Dot Esportsthis collective is made up of around 30 players with external support provided by members of the LCSPA, which shows that the relationship between Riot and the AVPA is healthy and long-term.
In addition, the former coach of VALORANT For TSM, Taylor “Tailored” Broomall, was chosen to lead the project, given his long experience as a player representative through the North American agency Prodigy.
“This group of gamers have worked hard to establish their voice as a pillar of the gaming community. VALORANT, and I’m proud to represent them,” Tailored said. “With this, the players of the international league and the Challengers of the continent will have someone to help and guide them in the years to come.”
Phil Aram, executive director of the LCSPA, assured that Tailored was already doing everything for the players even before the announcement of the international leagues, so with this he will have the opportunity to dedicate himself full time to creating programs that transform the scene of the SPFs.
