Anyone who has pre-ordered a physical edition of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, including the Collector’s Edition, will automatically receive a refund. Players who have pre-ordered any edition in digital format, including the First Blood Edition, Unsanctioned Edition, and Blood Moon Edition, can keep the order without any problem or request a refund. Paradox Interactive has decided to refund all pre-orders for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 due to updated editions and content. With this move, it seeks to “provide the best value” possible.
Regarding the title itself, there is nothing new beyond Paradox’s commitment to “offer a great game.” The presentation of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 dates back to March 2019. When the title was announced, the campaign was launched with their respective videos presenting the clans, trailers with gameplay, developer interviews and more. Everything went wrong in October of that same year, when Paradox announced that Bloodlines 2 would not be available during the first quarter of 2020 as planned. However, the publisher kept 2020 as the launch window.
During 2020, the development of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 suffered an earthquake after the firing of Brian Mitsoda and Ka’ai Cluney, narrative designer and creative director, respectively. The game was delayed to 2021 and in February of that same year Paradox announced that Hardsuit Labs was ceasing development on the title. “It has been a difficult resolution, but we are convinced that it is the right one to do justice to the game,” the company said at the time. It is still unknown which team is in charge of the project.
From then until today, the only thing we have known about Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 is that Paradox came close to canceling its development. The publisher wanted to scrap the game when he pushed Hardsuit Labs away, but decided to give it another go when he received a “compelling enough” proposal to keep the project alive. To know more about Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 we will have to wait until September.
