Valve announces that the Steam Deck console can now be purchased without prior reservation

Valve has announced that the Steam Deck is now available for purchase without the need to pre-order the 256GB SSD NVMe and 512GB SSD NVMe versions, which are expected to ship in one to two weeks.

Until now, this product, launched in February of this year, had to be booked beforehand through its website, which did not allow a direct online purchase in none of the countries in which it is marketed (United States, Canada, the European Union and the United Kingdom).

The company justified this procedure due to problems in the supply chain that prevented it from satisfying user demand due to its high volume of orders in its initial stages of distribution.

However, now Valve has announced that it is doing “everything possible to keep Steam Deck in stock” and that its product is already can be purchased directlywithout having to reserve it beforehand.

As indicated in his Web page In Spain, there are currently two versions of Setam Deck. One of them is a 256 GB NVMe SSD, which can be purchased for 549 euros, followed by the 512 GB SSD NVMe model, available for 679 euros.

Both consoles offer an expected shipping date of one to two weeks. In addition, a third version, 64GB eMMc, priced at 419 euros, is included on the website and is expected to be available soon.

The manufacturer is aware that “there is a possibility that demand exceeds expectations” and has pointed out that, if this were to happen, some models in some regions could temporarily become available again upon reservation.

With this, it has announced that the portable console can also be reserved in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and that it plans to expand availability to more regions.

On the other hand, it has indicated that the Steam Deck docking station can also be purchased for €99 and that the waiting time to receive it is also one to two weeks. This product has three USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 ports, a USB-C port, DisplayPort, HDMI, and a Gigabit Ethernet port.

Finally, Valve has recalled that in recent months it has worked on a series of ‘software’ updates, including interface improvements and in the Steam Input user experience and features.

Added to the news is a revision of the Docked mode (also for all peripherals and connection stations) and new simpler update channels: Stable, Beta and Preview.
