The Government of Uzbekistan has denounced an attack with projectiles from Afghan territory, although it has highlighted that the incident has ended without victims, although it has caused some material damage in the city of Termez.

The Uzbek Foreign Ministry has indicated in a statement published on its website that a total of five projectiles have hit the Majnuntol neighborhood and a local football stadium.

“It should be noted that there were no explosions when the shells hit, so no one has been killed and no destruction has been recorded,” he said, before adding that “four houses in Majnuntol have been slightly damaged.”


He also stressed that the projectiles have been “deactivated” by teams of artificers and added that the Uzbek authorities and the Taliban “are applying the necessary measures to determine the causes of this incident.”

The town of Termez is located in the south of the country, on the border with Afghanistan, where the Taliban have ruled since they took power in August 2021 after the then-president, Ashraf Ghani, fled, due to his advances towards the capital. , Kabul.
