The Municipality of Punta Arenas and the San Sebastián University launched a contest to highlight the importance of the Chilean Antarctic territory.
I invite you to know the Chilean Antarctica. This is the name of the interschool contest organized by the San Sebastian University in conjunction with the Illustrious Municipality of Punta Arenaswhich seeks to promote territorial, scientific, geographical and cultural awareness of the white continent.
The contest is open to students of Early Childhood Education (Middle Levels – Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten), Basic First Cycle, Basic Second Cycle and Secondary Education from educational establishments in the Magallanes Region and Chilean Antarctica.
The initiative includes the creation of a video, of a maximum of one minute and thirty seconds, generated by a student of one of the educational levels. The objective is that in an original and creative way they can make known what the Chilean Antarctic is for their territory.
“We want to promote territorial relevance and develop the local identity of Magellanic studentsevidencing sociocultural and demographic aspects of the Chilean Antarctic”, said Sergio Hermosilla, vice-rector of the Universidad San Sebastián, campus of Patagonia.
For his part, the mayor of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich, stated that this contest also “seeks to commemorate the 82 years of the Chilean Antarctica in a different way, involving our students who, as digital natives, can generate very good proposals relying on the applications and technologies with which they are related on a daily basis.”.
The videos must be sent by mail to [email protected]. The deadline for delivery is Friday, December 2, and the awards will be held in Punta Arenas on December 16, at a time and place that will be communicated in a timely manner.
