USM students traveled to Thailand to compete in a robotics and artificial intelligence tournament

They will represent Chile in the international meeting “Robocup 2022” that begins this Wednesday the 13th in that country. Its objective is to promote research around intelligent robots, artificial intelligence (AI) and automation.

Between July 13 and 16, a new edition of “Robocup 2022” will take place, this time the host country is Thailand and the participation of some 3,000 competitors from 45 countries is expected. It is an international scientific initiative that aims to promote research into intelligent robots, AI and automation.

Chileans will participate in the Robocup Junior league, Recue Line category. The idea is that they drive their robots to rescue their victims in a recreated catastrophic scenario with different obstacles that they must overcome. To do this, they will use a small robot created by them, which has 12 infrared sensors, six laser sensors, four motors and other custom-designed 3D parts.

The Chilean team that is already in Bangkok is made up of Sansanos Emilio Abarca and Daniel Fernández, and fourth-year student Pablo Huichalaf, who trained under the auspices of the Mustakis Foundation, through its Educational Robotics program.
