The Supreme Court of the United States on Thursday dismissed an appeal with which the Republicans sought to maintain the extinct regulation of Title 42, which allowed authorities to quickly expel hundreds of thousands of migrants crowded on the border with Mexico.
The Title 42 rule was implemented by the Administration of former President Donald Trump in March 2020, at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, as a measure related to a public health emergency.
The court had already canceled the arguments around the appeal in February.
