US sanctions three Israeli individuals and five entities over West Bank violence

11 Jul. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The US State Department on Thursday sanctioned three Israeli individuals and five entities for their involvement in the violence in the West Bank, which has escalated following the Israeli army’s offensive against the Gaza Strip.

“The United States remains deeply concerned about extremist violence and instability in the West Bank, which undermines Israel’s own security. We encourage the Government of Israel to take steps to hold these individuals and entities accountable,” U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller said in a statement.

Among those targeted by the sanctions is Lehava, a far-right organisation led by Ben Zion Gopstein — sanctioned by Washington — whose members have committed acts of violence, including attacks against Palestinian civilians.

The list also includes four outposts controlled by individuals already sanctioned by the United States and used as “bases for violent actions” to displace the Palestinian population.

“Outposts such as these have been used to disrupt grazing lands, limit access to wells, and launch violent attacks against neighboring Palestinians,” the State Department said in a statement.

Two others sanctioned are Reut Ben Haim and Aviad Shlomo Saird, who lead Tzav 9, an organization that has participated in actions that “threaten the peace, security or stability of the West Bank.” Similarly, Washington includes Isaschar Manne on the list, “responsible or complicit” in planning acts of violence in the area.

The measures adopted by the US Administration involve freezing the assets of sanctioned individuals located in its territory and prohibiting all transactions carried out by Americans or on US soil that involve these sanctioned individuals.
