The United States has announced sanctions against seven Iranian entities over the manufacture of drones used by Russia in connection with the invasion of Ukraine, unleashed nearly a year ago, according to a notice published in the Federal Register.
The US Department of Commerce has indicated that the sanctioned list includes “entities that there are reasonable grounds to believe, based on specific facts, that they have been involved, are involved, or pose a risk of being involved in activities contrary to the the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States.
Thus, it has highlighted that the sanctioned entities are the Aerospace Force of the Revolutionary Guard, the Organization for Research and the Self-Sufficient Jihad of the Revolutionary Fuardia, Design and Manufacturing of Aircraft Engines, Oje Parvaz Mado Nafar Company, Paravar Pars Company, Qods Aviation Industry and Shahed Aviation Industries.
Iran said in December that Ukraine has not presented evidence to support its allegations about Russia’s use of Iranian-made drones as part of the invasion, unleashed on February 24, 2022 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Both Ukraine and the United States have accused Iran of delivering the drones to Russia for use in the war, although Tehran argues that they were sent before the outbreak of the conflict under their military cooperation agreements.
