MADRID 11 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The United States reported this Monday that it has attacked nine targets in two places in Syria where pro-Iran groups were present “in response to several attacks against US personnel.”
“Central Command forces have carried out attacks against nine targets in two locations linked to pro-Iran groups in Syria,” explains a statement from the US military organization.
These strikes are “in response to several attacks against US personnel in Syria in the last 24 hours” and “will reduce the ability of Iranian-backed groups to plan and carry out attacks against US and Coalition forces in the future.”
“Our message is clear: attacks against the United States and coalition partners in the region will not be tolerated,” warned the general in command of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), Michael Erik Kurilla. “We will continue to take the necessary measures to protect our personnel and coalition partners and respond to any reckless attacks,” he added.
CENTCOM has also stressed that this contingent is deployed in the area “to carry out operations against the Islamic State.”
