Governors, legislators, political leaders and heads of state reacted on Sunday to US President Joe Biden’s decision to end his re-election campaign. The president published a letter on the social network X (formerly Twitter) in which he reported that he expressed: “It has been the greatest honor of my life to serve as your president. And although my intention has been to run for re-election, I believe that the best thing for my party and for the country is for me to resign and focus solely on fulfilling my obligations as president for the remainder of my term.” Biden also announced that he was giving his support to Vice President Kamala Harris to assume the Democratic nomination for the November 5 elections.
