September 11 () –

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and British Foreign Secretary David Lammy announced aid packages for Ukraine during their visit to kyiv on Wednesday, valued at $700 million (€635 million) and £610 million (€725 million), respectively.

Blinken said $325 million would be used to strengthen Ukraine’s energy system, while $290 million would fund humanitarian programs for both displaced Ukrainians and refugees. The remaining $102 million would be used for demining activities.

Shortly before, Lammy had confirmed that she will allocate 242 million pounds (more than 286 million euros) previously announced for this year and the next 2025. These funds will be used to address “immediate humanitarian, energy and stabilization needs, as well as to support the reforms, recovery and reconstruction” of the country.

The British Foreign Office has also announced its intention to draw on loan guarantees worth more than £370m (just over €437m) for World Bank loans before the end of the year. These funds will serve as fiscal support and for “deliveries of military equipment”.

The US Secretary of State said at a press conference with Lammy and his Ukrainian counterpart, Andri Sibiha, that they are seeking a victory for Ukraine. “We are fully committed to continuing to gather the support needed for its brave defenders and citizens,” he stressed.

Blinken also recalled that Washington “remains the largest provider of security assistance to Ukraine.” “Our collective message to Putin is clear: our support will not wane, our unity will not break,” he added.

For his part, Lammy stressed that “the United Kingdom’s support for Ukraine is unwavering” and stressed that this latest round of financial assistance is yet another example of this “ongoing support” for kyiv. “It will provide vital support to the Ukrainians as they continue to endure relentless Russian attacks,” the British minister added.
