In this sense, the Prime Minister of Austrlia, Anthony Albanese, has detailed that 250 members of the Army will be available starting this Thursday, who will join the 100 soldiers already working in the area. Three helicopters have also been mobilized for rescue operations during the night.

After the declaration of emergency declared this Tuesday – a mechanism that serves to allow the rapid disbursement of emergency funds for the inhabitants of the southeast of the country -, Albanese has promised new direct aid of 1,000 Australian dollars (662 euros) for each adult , and 400 dollars (264 euros) for each child, according to ‘The Australian’.

This episode of flooding has been described by the authorities as the fourth major flood in New South Wales in less than 18 months.

In March, Australian authorities reported the deaths of nine people in Queensland from massive flooding that hit the country for days.
