Although they were, and still are, best known for their mechanical hard drives, they have long since Western Digital embraced the world of SSDs in its catalog. Its latest release is, precisely, the new line of SSDs WD Blue SN500 NVMe.
These are models in M.2 2280 format with capacities of 500 GB, 1 TB, 2 TB and up to 4 TB that reach speeds of up to 5,500 MB/s sequential reading thanks to the use of the interface PCI Express 4.0 x4. The fastest write speed is 4,900 MB/s, while random access speeds are around 730,000 read IOPs and 770,000 write IOPS in the highest capacity model, with downward variations as we reduce capacity.
The cheapest model is launched for a price of $69.99, followed by the three 1.2 and 4 TB models for $79.99, $139.99 and $279.99 respectively.
On the Spanish Western Digital website there are already lists with prices ranging from 70.99 euros for the 500 GB model to 335.99 euros for the 4 TB model. The intermediate models of 1 and 2 TB remain at 95.99 euros and 169.99 euros respectively, amounts considerably higher than what the company offers in dollars, since taxes and other costs must be added.
