The University of Córdoba will have a type three biosafety laboratory, which would be a great contribution to the investigation of pathogens in the country. This was announced by the director of the Tropical Biological Research Institute, Salim Mattar Velilla.
(The 29 best Colombian universities in the THE ranking).
“From this laboratory we hope to propose a model that allows us to quickly design vaccines for the country, not only for Covid, but for other infectious diseases,” Mattar said.
Which means that this study center will allow for cell cultures of pathogens, which would contribute to contain the spread of disease in the country.
(‘The challenge in online education is the discipline to finish the course’).
The director also recalled that the University of Córdoba managed to be the pfirst institution in Colombia where tests for covid were carried out.
And he pointed out that this laboratory could be created thanks to the resources of the university, and those obtained in the call of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation that the educational center won.
