In the case of female unemploymentthis went from a figure of 18% to 14.1%, and for the male population the reduction was from 12.3% to 9.2%.
Although the unemployment rate in June 2022 was 11.3%, in the 13 main cities of the country it was 11.7%.
“Given the dynamics of the population outside the labor force in the top 13 cities, which is stagnant, because it is growing faster, we are seeing that the global participation rate does not have a statistically significant difference, which is ultimately the reason so that we have not been able to observe a better result than we saw in May 2022 (10.6%) for the national unemployment rate”, explained the director of Dane, Juan Daniel Oviedo.
The overall participation rate went from 61.2% nationwide in June 2021 to 63.7%, while in the 13 cities the increase was from 64.2% of the population to 65.4%.
On the employment side, the employment figure reached 22.02 million, which implies the recovery of 1.9 million jobs compared to the same month of 2021, when those employed were 20.07 million. Of these, 821,000 occurred in the main 13 cities of the country.
In the case of people outside the labor market, there was also a reduction, from 14.89 million a year ago to 14.1 million, that is, 738,000 people entered the labor market, either as employed or in search of employment. employment (unemployed).

“What we can highlight is that in this last year about 50% of jobs were created in three activities: recreation activities, also artistic activities; manufacturing industry, and in relation to restaurants and hotels, which shows us that face-to-face training has improved this labor market a little”, Pirajan said.
