Unemployment rate in Colombia was 11.3% in June

The National Administrative Department of Statistics (Dane) presented the results for the labor market for the month of June 2022, where it revealed that in the sixth month of the year the national unemployment rate fell to 11.3%, a reduction of 3.3 percentage points compared to 14.6% in June 2021.

According to the entity, in June the labor market showed a recovery of 1.9 million jobs compared to the same month last yearwith which the number of employed persons stood at 22.02 million, while in the same month of 2021 there were 20.07 million workers in the country.

Of these jobs generated in the last year, 821,000 were given in the main 13 cities of the country. “We have a very similar profile to the one we observed in the month of May, where the small municipalities of the country between June 2021 and June 2022 “explained the director of Dane, Juan Daniel Oviedo.

As for the number of unemployed, or unemployed, those people who are looking for a job, in June it fell to 2.79 million, a reduction of 650,000 people compared to last year’s figure.

Finally, there is also the population outside the labor force, in which there was a reduction of 738,000 people, who entered the labor force. This implies that while in June 2021 there were 14.8 million citizens outside the labor market, by June of this year the figure was reduced to 14.1 million.
