The Ukrainian Parliament has approved this Tuesday a law that prohibits the dissemination of propaganda of Russian “imperial” politics, by virtue of which the Ukrainian authorities have the margin to eliminate any type of symbol linked to the expansionist efforts of the neighboring country.

Deputy Yaroslav Zhelezniak has reported on his Telegram account that the new law has gone ahead with 248 votes in favor, in a Chamber that has a total of 450 seats. The text determines that the Russian imperial policy is criminal and, therefore, punishable, reports Ukrinform.

In addition to eliminating the symbology, the new law also proposes renaming locations to glorify Russia or celebrate certain dates or events for that purpose, a tactic with which Ukraine wants to avoid any political modification of parties or place names for political purposes.
