The next military meeting of the Ukrainian Defense Contact Group (UDCG), known as the ‘Ramstein format’ and taking place at the Ramstein military base in Germany, will be held in February and will be dedicated to combat aviation.
“We are very hopeful. Today the president said during his speech that the next Ramstein will be dedicated to aviation,” said the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Adrii Sybiga.
In this sense, the person in charge has confirmed that the next meeting of the group will give rise to “a new reality” in the context of the Russian conflict and that, in addition, it could be unofficially called the “armored Ramstein”, as he has collected Ukrainian news agency Unian.
The last meeting of the Defense group took place on January 20 and Ukraine’s allies did not reach an agreement regarding the shipment of German Leopard 2 tanks.
“Yes, we will still have to fight for the supply of modern tanks, but with each passing day it becomes clearer that there is no alternative to making the decision on tanks,” Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky stressed during his speech to the nation last Friday.
Friday’s meeting was the eighth in a series of meetings of the Contact Group for Ukraine, founded in April 2022 at the initiative of Washington, to discuss current and future efforts to support Ukraine in maintaining its sovereignty.
