MADRID 15 Oct. () –

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, addressed a series of meetings this Tuesday to study possible new measures to protect the country’s energy infrastructure against possible new Russian attacks ahead of the arrival of winter.

Specifically, Zelensky has met with representatives of several ministries and energy suppliers, with whom he has addressed “all levels of protection of energy infrastructures, including technical aspects, as well as electronic warfare and anti-aircraft defense,” according to detailed on Telegram.

Thus, after the meeting, the main Ukrainian authorities have decided to strengthen air defense “along the front lines and the border”, a task in which they will have the participation of the Air Force.

On the other hand, the meeting has served to develop plans to repair possible future damages as soon as possible, as well as to address the decentralization of energy suppliers in order to achieve this.

During the past two winters of war in Ukraine, the Russian Armed Forces have repeatedly attacked and caused severe damage to major Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The lack of energy supply, and even water and heating, has shaken part of the Ukrainian population in previous winter seasons.

The Government of Ukraine has received support and funding from its key foreign partners to rebuild its energy network and additional air defense systems to protect it.
