Ukraine says Putin has used information as a "strategic tool" since coming to power

26 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Ukraine has claimed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has deliberately used the information as a “strategic tool” since he came to power.

“Starting with the destruction of independent media and the murder of journalists, the Kremlin has created an information bubble that leaves millions of Russians in a parallel reality,” said the adviser to the Ukrainian Mission to the UN, Serhiy Dvornyk, during a session of the UN Information Committee.

The diplomat believes that Russian society has “succumbed” to the “false anti-Ukrainian” news with which they have been “fed” for two decades, and has given as an example the celebrations of Russian Internet users to the video of the execution of a soldier Ukrainian after exclaiming “Glory to Ukraine!”.

In addition, he has compared the methods of Russian propaganda with that used by the Nazis for the “dehumanization of the target”, “the supremacy of a nation” and for “faith in a leader”, something that would make it easier for their soldiers to be ready to fight. “kill and destroy”

The spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, has responded by accusing Ukraine of assassinating Russian blogger Vladen Tatarsky with a bomb in a cafeteria in St. Petersburg (Russia), something that Dvornyk has denied, alleging that his country “does not resort to to terrorism, unlike Russia”.

“His problem was that, after the Russian withdrawal from Kherson, he became extremely critical of the High Command of the Russian Army,” added the Ukrainian diplomat.

According to the Ukrainian Institute of Mass Information, the Russians have committed nearly 500 crimes against the media and journalists during the invasion of Ukraine, killing 52 workers, including eight journalists. In addition, 14 of them are missing, 21 have been captured by Russian troops and another 17 have been wounded.
