Ukraine reports significant progress in recovering Kharkiv

First modification:

The Ukrainian Army achieved “good news” in the fighting of various towns in the northeastern region of the territory. The military ministry said that some regiments outnumbered declining Russian forces. Western analysts believe that Moscow is withdrawing troops from the east and sending them south. However, Russia acknowledged clashes, but maintains that it has the situation under control.

This Thursday, September 8, the Ukrainian forces reported that in recent days they have managed to retake villages in the northeast of the country belonging to the Kharkiv region, one of the first to fall when Russia carried out its military operation last February.

In his traditional evening speech, Volodymyr Zelensky said he had “good news” from the Kharkiv administrative region thanks to the fact that the local Army managed to dominate the control of different towns.

Military authorities in kyiv and Western military experts reported that in recent days they have reconquered some enclaves and pushed back enemy lines.

“Probably everyone has heard about the recent activities in our Ukrainian defenders. I think that all citizens can be proud of our fighters,” Zelensky said in his speech.

The president explained that two airborne brigades and a mechanized brigade achieved valuable victories in locations not revealed due to the delicate framework that they still travel.

Russia acknowledged that there is fighting on the Kharkiv front, but strongly denied having lost any territory. Russian military experts slipped that the invaders suffered setbacks and their ranks in the Ukrainian east are shortened.

Analysts from the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believe that kyiv attacked by surprise, advancing at least 20 kilometers into seized areas and recovering “approximately 400 square kilometers”.

For his part, Zelensky’s presidential adviser, Oleksiy Arestovitch, published a video on the YouTube network confirming that the military surprised the city of Balakliia, a small city southeast of Kharkiv.

“The Russians say that Balakliia is surrounded when in reality our troops have advanced much further,” Arestovitch stressed.

In return, a pro-Russian official posted on Telegram that the small city remains in the hands of Russia despite the clashes.

Western analysts believe that Russia has reduced its forces in the Kharkiv region to move them to the southern front, urgently needing reinforcements so that the retreat does not deepen.
