Ukraine intercepts several drones launched by the Russian Army against kyiv

Moscow destroys more than 30 drones and ten unmanned boats launched against the Crimean peninsula

Jul 18 () –

Ukrainian authorities said on Thursday that they had intercepted several drones launched early Thursday by the Russian army against the capital, kyiv, although they ruled out that the incident caused any casualties or material damage.

“During one of the latest air raids in kyiv, there was a real threat of enemy drone use,” said Serhiy Popko, head of the Kiev City Military Administration, in a message on his Telegram account, where he stated that “several drones were heading towards the capital, but were intercepted by air defense systems.”

He stressed that “immediately after this, information emerged about the alleged fall of debris in the Darnitsky district.” “An inspection was carried out quickly by units of the operational services. Fortunately, no consequences have been recorded. There are no destruction or casualties in kyiv,” he concluded.

The Russian government has said that in the last few hours it has intercepted two drones launched by Ukraine against the Bryansk region and another 33 devices launched against the Crimean peninsula, annexed by Moscow in 2014, a decision not recognised by the international community.

The Russian Ministry of Defense has specified in a statement on its Telegram account that, in addition, its systems in the Black Sea “destroyed ten unmanned boats heading to the Crimean peninsula,” while stressing that these events are “attempts by the Kiev regime to carry out terrorist attacks.”
