Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky signed several decrees on Friday to impose new sanctions against 37 individuals and 212 companies associated with both Moscow and the pro-Russian oligarch Viktor Medvedchuk.
“Another package of sanctions for today. I have signed a decree imposing restrictive measures on the ownership of Russian companies in Ukraine and the ownership of Ukrainian entities affiliated with them (…) In addition, sanctions were introduced against companies related to Medvedchuk and other sanctioned people,” he said.
Specifically, one of those sanctioned is the Ukrainian businessman and former deputy Andrii Derkach, considered a pro-Russian agent and also sanctioned by the United States for interfering in the 2020 US presidential elections.
Under the decree, Derkach, accused of treason and illegal enrichment by the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, has been deprived of his citizenship, while his assets have been blocked for ten years.
Likewise, the Russian holding company HSM Group, specialized in construction of machinery and engineering, as well as Zaporizhstal, owned by the Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Ajmetov, have also been added to the ‘black list’, according to the UNIAN news agency.
