Ukraine figures at half a thousand Russians deployed at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant

July 13 () –

The Ukrainian authorities have estimated the number of Russians that Moscow has deployed at the Zaporizhia nuclear power plant facilities at nearly 500, including soldiers and employees of the Rosatom state nuclear company.

“We do not know what kind of weapons they use or what they used to undermine the station,” said the governor of Zaporizhia, Yuri Malashko, during a press conference, insisting on the theory that Russia has placed explosives in the plant’s facilities.

However, from the International Organization for Atomic Energy (IAEA) they have reported that, for the moment, their experts in the place have not located the mines that Kiev denounces, although they have qualified that they have not achieved full access to the facilities.

Likewise, Malashko has accused these Russian personnel deployed in the Zaporizhia plant of taking advantage of their position to fire at populated areas in the region itself or in Dnipropetrovsk, as well as weapons and ammunition stores, reports Ukrinform.

The plant, which has up to six reactors, was occupied by Russian forces in March 2022, in the context of the war in Ukraine. Last summer the regular shelling of the facility caused problems with the external power supply.
