The Ukrainian authorities have stated this Monday that their troops have killed or wounded at least 30 North Korean soldiers deployed in the Russian region of Kursk, the scene since August of an incursion by the Ukrainian Army, within the framework of the war. unleashed in February 2022.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has indicated in a statement on its Telegram account that “units of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have suffered significant losses” in the fighting. “At least 30 soldiers have been killed or wounded,” he said.

Thus, he stressed that “the units of the North Korean Army are being reinforced by the losses in the assaults” recorded in the areas of the towns of Plejovo, Vorozhba and Martinovka, without Moscow and Pyongyang having commented on the matter for now.

On the other hand, he has stated that at least three North Korean soldiers “have been reported missing” in Kurilova, while he has stressed that “the assault groups are being replenished with new personnel, particularly from the 94th Brigade of the Army of North Korea, to continue combat operations in the area.”

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, assured on Saturday that North Korean troops had already begun fighting alongside Russian forces in Kursk, amid the analysis of the situation by kyiv’s Western allies. The United States estimates there are around 11,000 North Korean soldiers present in the region.
