June 11 () –

At least three civilians have been killed and another dozen injured by a Russian attack on an evacuee ship in the Ukrainian-controlled Kherson region, the head of the region’s Ukrainian administration, Oleksander Prokudin, denounced on Sunday.

“We have thirteen victims as a result of the shelling of the boat used to evacuate people. Three civilians have died and ten more have been injured, including two security officials,” Prokudin said in a statement collected by Ukrinform.

The governor particularly accused Russia of killing one of the occupants of the ship, a 74-year-old man who was protecting a woman, “by shooting in the back.”

This evacuation, the adviser to the Ukrainian Presidency, Andrei Yermak, had previously explained, was caused by the rising waters after the destruction this week of the Kajovka dam, on the Dnieper river that separates the two areas of Kherson controlled by Russia and Ukraine, and for which both countries blame each other.
