Ukraine denounces new night bombardments by Russian forces on Kharkov

Ukraine believes that the accession referendum in Kherson announced by Moscow is far from being held

Aug. 22 () –

The Ukrainian authorities have denounced this Monday new night bombardments on civil infrastructures in the Kharkov region, the scene of the last weeks of the Russian offensives.

The mayor of Kharkov, Ihor Terekhov, has specified that on this occasion Moscow’s missiles have hit a two-story building in the kyiv district from the Russian border city of Belgorod.

“Continuing with his practice of night bombing, at 2.49 (local time) our enemy has fired on infrastructure (…). A two-story building has been destroyed. There was a small fire, there is no information on the victims,” He has told on his Telegram page.

Last week, the Ukrainian authorities confirmed the death of at least 21 people due to Russian bombardments on several districts of Kharkov, including Slobid, Jolodnohirski and Saltivski, or the city of Krasnograd.

According to the British Ministry of Defense, the renewed offensive on Kharkov by the Russian forces would be a maneuver by Moscow to concentrate the Ukrainian troops on that front line, since they have control of the region.

In turn, British Intelligence pointed out that despite the fact that the front line in this region has hardly changed since May, Kharkov has been one of the most bombed cities since the beginning of the invasion, possibly because it is “within the range of most types of Russian artillery”.
