Ukraine denies compensation to the families of its fallen soldiers if they reside in Russia or Belarus

Ukraine will not deliver the compensation that corresponds to the relatives of its soldiers who fell during the war if they reside in Russia or Belarus, according to the representative of the Government in Parliament, Taras Melnichuk.

On the occasion of the martial law decreed by the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, due to the war with Russia, Melnichuk explained that a series of changes have been made in the payment policies for the military, one of which is this, which also concerns soldiers convicted of treason or those who are caught collaborating with the enemy.

The measure also affects the relatives of those fallen officials who were part of the Security, Intelligence, National Guard, border guards, military prosecutors, emergency personnel, police officers and employees of the National Anti-Corruption Office, among others.

Compensation to the families of the military and the rest of the aforementioned officials who fell during the war with Ukraine is set at a single payment of fifteen million hryvnias (about 425,000 euros).
