The Ukrainian authorities have claimed to have carried out an attack on an airport located in the Zaporizhia region and controlled by Russian troops, with no information on casualties or material damage for the moment.
The spokesman for the Ukrainian mayor of Mariupol, Petro Andriushchenko, has spoken in his Telegram account of “two powerful explosions” and has specified that the Berdiansk airport would have been hit. Likewise, he has added that a military base in Melitópol has also been attacked.
“The occupants have been slightly burned at the base,” he stated, while indicating that “local officials confirm that a hotel where the occupants had their base has been hit.” Russia has not yet commented on this information.
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced in September the annexation of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia, all of which were partially occupied as part of the invasion, which began on February 24, 2022. Last week he declared that they are all “historical lands and original peoples” of Russia.
