President Zelenski announced that the troops continue to make advances in the east and have already recaptured 6,000 kilometers that were in the hands of Russian troops. Despite having lost the Izium stronghold in the northeast, the Kremlin confirmed that it will not carry out a general mobilization. For its part, the United States celebrated Ukraine’s progress on the battlefield.

Positive news for the Ukrainian troops continue to emerge after President Volodimir Zelenski on Tuesday, September 13, stressed the important progress in recovering the territory that was controlled by Russia.

After having reconquered Izium – an important nucleus for supplying the troops in the Kharkiv region and its surroundings – the advances continued and There are already 6,000 kilometers where the Ukrainian flag flies, detailed Volodimir Zelensky.

Hanna Malyar, deputy defense minister, said that 150,000 people had already been released. The official led an event in the central square of Balakliia, a military supply point obtained at the end of last week, where the flags were raised.

“The goal is to liberate the Kharkiv region and beyond, all the territories occupied by the Russian Federation as soon as possible,” he said. Malyar confirmed that this counteroffensive led to more than 300 towns and more than 1,500 kilometers retaken.

Later, in a Facebook post, he stressed that these are “confirmed figures”, but that the extension is “practically double”.

From kyiv they emphasized that they will fight to expel Russian forces from their territory, emboldened after the triumphs in the northeast and the fighting in the south.

The Ukrainian governor in Luhansk, Sergei Gaidai, said he expected a large-scale offensive there, where victories are few and progress slow.

For its part, the Kremlin rejected the possibility of a general mobilization of the population despite the withdrawal of troops from the eastan action that was criticized by sectors that want a more aggressive campaign in Ukraine.

Russian spokesman Dmitri Peskov said they are not talking about it “at the moment.” A Crimean deputy from the United Russia party, Mihail Sheremet, stated that without general mobilization the troops will not be able to meet the objectives.

The pro-Russians claimed that the rival forces were eight times larger than the Russians and that they had to leave fuel and military equipment behind.

The Secretary of State of the United States, Antony Blinken, celebrated that the Ukrainian Army has made “significant progress” and recalled the support of the Western bloc to provide the necessary equipment.

“What they have done is plan methodically and benefit from the support offered by the US and other countries to have the equipment to carry out this counteroffensive,” he added.

Ukraine demands the shipment of weapons

In his dour video address, Zelensky urged the West to speed up delivery of weapons systems and for allies to “strengthen cooperation to defeat Russian terrorism.”

The Foreign Ministry criticized Germany’s failure to provide Leopard tanks and Marder infantry fighting vehicles, a decision they called “disappointing.”

Berlin’s response came on the same Monday through the person in charge of Defense, Christine Lambrecht, who rejected the sending of tanks “unilaterally”.

Since the outbreak of war on February 24, the Washington-led group has shipped billions of dollars worth of weapons.
