Ukraine believes that the accession referendum in Kherson announced by Moscow is far from being held

Aug. 22 () –

The celebration of the referendum in Kherson announced by Russia for the possible accession of the territory would be far from being held, as assured by the deputy of the Regional Council of the region, Serhi Khlan.

Thus, Khlan has assured that in the absence of three weeks to hold that consultation, the Russian authorities have not been able to prepare it, not even in Genichesk, a port city on the shores of the Azov Sea and that in kyiv they consider “a traditional place of the ‘initiatives’ of the occupiers”.

“Again, nothing goes right and there is no time to postpone the date,” Khlan celebrated during an interview for Ukrainian television.

At the end of June, the authorities placed by Moscow in Kherson after taking control of the region announced their intention to hold a referendum on joining Russia, a move expected by kyiv after consultations in Crimea, Donetsk and Lugansk.
