The Government of Ukraine has announced this Sunday that Ukrainian forces have recovered in the last hours the town of Blagodatne, in the eastern region of Donetsk and which is located about 35 kilometers south of Donetsk city.

The announcement was made by the adviser to the Ministry of the Interior, Anton Gerashenko, on his Twitter account. “The city has been liberated by the Ukrainian Army,” he announced in his message, accompanied by a video in which members of the Ukrainian forces place the national flag on the façade of what remains of a building semi-destroyed by the fighting.

Elements of the so-called 68th Oleksa Dovbush Separate Hunter Brigade have collaborated in the operation. The group, on its Facebook website, has also published images of its presence in the town, which is located about 140 kilometers northwest of Bakhmut, one of the main sources of current conflict.

“The invaders resisted to the end, but could not face the onslaught of the unstoppable gluttons!” According to the brigade’s publication, collected by Ukrinform. The group also assures that several Russian soldiers have been captured and right now they are providing “information that will contribute to more liberations of Ukrainian land.”

Russia has not ruled on the situation in the town but has assured that it has repelled the Ukrainian attempts in recent hours to advance positions in the region.

“In the Donetsk direction, the most active hostilities were carried out in the areas of the Maryinka and Avdivka settlements, where the southern group of troops successfully repelled eight attacks on the Novobajmutovka, Krasnogorovka, Pervomayskoye and Maryinka settlements” , explained the spokesman for the Russian Army, General Igor Konashenkov.

According to the spokesman, Russia has prevented any penetration of its lines along this front and assured that at least 310 Ukrainian soldiers have died during this offensive, in which Russia has also destroyed two tanks, two infantry fighting vehicles and two armored vehicles, according to their balance, collected by the TASS agency.
