MADRID Jan. 7 () –
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have launched “a precision attack” against a Russian military post near the town of Belaya, in the Kursk region, two days after the start of a new offensive with which Ukrainian troops seek to gain some terrain after recent weeks where the fighting seemed to have focused on other areas.
The General Staff has reported on its Telegram account of an attack against a military post near Belaya, within the “combat operations” initiated in the heart of Russian territory. “The Armed Forces of Ukraine will use all means at their disposal to pursue and eliminate formations of the Russian Armed Forces that threaten the safety of Ukrainian civilians,” he warned.
The incursion into Kursk began in early August, in an unprecedented strategic turn by kyiv since the president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, ordered in February 2022 to invade the neighboring country. According to the Ukrainian Army, its troops have repelled 94 attacks in this region in the last 24 hours.
Russian authorities, however, are simply continuing to update the casualty toll of Ukrainian forces in Kursk, reporting 325 dead and wounded since Monday. The Russian Ministry of Defense assures that Ukraine has suffered nearly 50,000 casualties in Kursk since the beginning of this incursion.
