March 24 () –

The Group of States against Corruption of the Council of Europe (GRECO) reported this Friday that Ukraine is making progress on the recommendations given by this body to prevent corruption of members of Parliament, judges and prosecutors.

Of the 31 recommendations collected in the report of the fourth information round (2017), Ukraine has already satisfactorily dealt with 15 of them, while nine have been partially implemented and only seven remain to be fulfilled.

GRECO wanted to recognize the “strong commitment” that Ukraine is showing, especially with the difficult times it is experiencing after the Russian invasion.

“The war has led to the need to adopt martial law, a state of emergency and an adjustment of priorities,” he stated, adding that “in a context like this, it is remarkable that Ukraine has continued to work on applying these recommendations”, although much work remains to be done.

Despite this, the agency has concluded that the current level is no longer “unsatisfactory”, as was the case in the last report presented in April 2022.
