26 Apr. (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Intelligence services of the United Kingdom have highlighted this Wednesday that the Ukrainian forces have “integrated” the city of Bakhmut, located in the east of the country and the scene of a Russian offensive for about a year, in a “defensive area much deeper”.

“With the city under attack for more than eleven months, the Ukrainian defenses in Bakhmut have been integrated as an element of a much deeper defensive zone, which includes the city of Chasiv Yar to the west,” they have indicated, according to a series of reports. messages published by the British Ministry of Defense through its account on the social network Twitter.

Thus, they have stated that “intense and close-range fighting continues in the western neighborhoods of the disputed city of Bakhmut, in the province of Donetsk.”

“A key development over the last week has been fighting around the town, especially near the village of Jromove, as Ukraine tries to maintain control of its 0506 supply route,” they explained. “Ukraine’s other supply options in Bakhmut are likely to be hampered by muddy conditions or unpaved roads,” they concluded.

Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov stressed last week that “two thirds” of Bakhmut have been “liberated” by Russian forces and are now under their control. Moscow attaches great strategic importance to the city as part of its invasion of the country, launched on February 24, 2022 by order of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
