As of March 2023, the Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) will begin to teach the new Civil Engineering degree in Computer Science and Technological Innovation -belonging to the Faculty of Engineering- which will last five years, within which the Students, starting from the third year, will begin a program where they will spend 3 months in the classroom alternating with 3 months of paid work in a company.
This modality makes it a unique program in the country, since students will have the opportunity to graduate with 2 years of work experience, in addition to working on real and relevant projects for their professional training.
“When hired by the companies, the students become an integral part of them, where they will work on relevant projects for them, supervised by tutors from the company and from the UDD”, emphasized the dean of the Faculty of Engineering of the UDD Fernando Rojas.
On the other hand, during the last year the students will carry out a compulsory international exchange, perfecting the English language and developing innovation methodologies, artificial intelligence tools, cybersecurity, virtual reality, among others.
The study plan contemplates the development of technology-based innovation skills through 11 workshops and 4 international certifications of technology companies. What is sought with the new career is to provide a differentiating value proposal with complete professional training.
As Rojas explained: “Our goal and responsibility as a Faculty of Engineering is to train comprehensive professionals who make an impact through innovation, entrepreneurship, a strong commitment to sustainable development and flexibility to adapt to the vertiginous changes that the global world imposes on us. . We want UDD Engineering to give concrete answers to the challenges facing our country and the world.” He stressed that this is an area for the future where there are great job opportunities, with very good pay.
