The delegation, led by Daniel Contesse and Lidia Martínez, had the participation of 29 students from the Universidad del Desarrollo, who traveled to San Francisco, United States from October 1 to 10 as part of the Innovators of the Future program. There, the students had the opportunity to attend classes for 3 days at Stanford University and then make two-day visits to different companies.
Communications UDD.- Innovators of the Future is aimed at UDD students -both from the Santiago and Concepción campuses- and has been held for more than 10 years. However, as a result of the pandemic, it was not possible to carry it out during 2020 and 2021, so activities were resumed in 2022. The program aims to empower and inspire students in the areas of innovation and entrepreneurship so that they are able to detect opportunities in the different disciplines in which they work.
Among the activities that Innovators of the Future has, are meeting emblematic companies and institutions and attending different classes at Stanford University. In this way, students will be able to see in the field the place where an important part of recent innovations have been developed, enhance their entrepreneurial spirit and be motivated to develop their own projects.
Daniel Contesse, one of the leaders of this program, who also accompanied the students to the United States this year, pointed out that Innovators of the Future “has become an icon for students who are especially interested in entrepreneurship and innovation to get to know a place of great world relevance, such as Silicon Valley and Stanford University”. The professional added that this year’s program “was especially symbolic because it was resumed after two years of pandemic in which we could not do it.”
Regarding the experience lived during this 2022, Contesse comments that “the students were really delighted and motivated. I am sure that for many of them, if not for all of them, the fact of having participated in this trip will mean a before and after. Here they had the privilege of living an immersive week in these important ecosystems. I am sure that the students will look at their professional and entrepreneurial future from a different perspective after this trip”, she concluded.
