As we told you a few days ago, those responsible for Naruto launched a survey that was intended to discover the most popular character in the series to be the protagonist of a new manga. Well, millions of votes have already been cast and the preliminary results might surprise you.

It’s almost 1 week of voting in the Naruto 99 popularity poll, in which fans around the world can vote for virtually every character that has appeared in Masashi Kishimoto’s manga and anime.

Which character is winning the popularity poll of Naruto?

There are still several days of voting left, but those responsible for the franchise wanted to update and show which characters are leading it and what a surprise, since the first place is occupied by the 4th Hokage and Naruto’s father, Minato Namikaze.

We say that it is somewhat surprising because in the previous character surveys that have been carried out officially and annually in the manga, the recurring leaders were Kakashi Hatake, Naruto Uzumaki and Itachi Uchiha. The highest rank Minato reached was 7th. However, it is important to note that the last survey dates from 2011 and was not global, apart from the fact that a leading role was not at stake for the winner of the survey.

That being said, it seems fans are taking the latter into account and are not voting for Naruto, but characters we don’t know as much about. However, there are people who regret that other characters whose story would be very interesting to tell, such as Fugaku or Shisui, are not voted for. Unfortunately, the owner of Naruto’s favorite ramen stand, Teuchi, doesn’t make it to the top.

Another interesting detail is that half of the first 10 places on the list are occupied by the Uchiha, precisely Itachi (2), Shisui (3), Madara (6), Sasuke (8) and Obito (10).

It is important to remember that the survey is not over yet, but fans have more than 1 month to continue casting votes daily. The Naruto 99 survey will close on January 31, 2023, and the results will be released in April of the same year.

However, those in charge of the franchise promised that they will share one more update on January 12, which will reveal the 20 most popular characters on the list. Millions of people have already seen the preliminary results and thousands have reacted to them.
